The Association of Consumers and Users of Lanzarote (Aculanza) has pointed out that since the beginning of 2024, the prices of rents, shopping basket products and other services have "continued to rise" by more than 3%.
Aculanza has indicated that "nobody does anything here" in the face of inflation, while highlighting that "the control and competition bodies seem to be looking the other way." While he has indicated that the inspections "are conspicuous by their absence" and that they have left the consumer offices "without real possibilities of taking any practical action in the face of this situation due to the lack of "an insularized consumer arbitration system."
In this sense, the association has revealed that Lanzarote "continues to be mistreated in every way" and that it continues to be the Canary Island with the "highest" shopping basket. At the same time, he added that the Canary Islands in turn has the most expensive purchase in the country. "We can already imagine where we can be," he added.
Aculanza has added that "it is not seen anywhere" if transport is subsidized for drinking water. In addition, he has indicated that "in certain surfaces" its price has gone from 0.95 to 1.15 euros, "beyond 3% and without the promised tax reduction."
To conclude, he has added that there is a "disproportion" between supply and demand in the water bill and has expressed that "the rebates from other islands do not come with us" in fuel. "Are we second or third position consumers?" he concluded.
