A total of 86 HiperDino and SuperDino stores in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Palma and Tenerife participate in the Food with Life project, which in 2022 alone prevented 471,247 kg of food from ending up in the trash.
Through the project, born in 2020 and managed by the DinoSol Foundation, hiperdino donates food discarded for sale, mainly for aesthetic reasons, but suitable for consumption, to 30 social entities in the archipelago, from which more than 12,000 people benefit in the Canary Islands.
According to the director of the DinoSol Foundation, Virginia Ávila, "Food with Life is much more than an initiative against waste; it is social and environmental, since it focuses on the people who are having the worst time and, at the same time, aims to raise awareness in what refers to the reuse of food."
