The entrepreneurial ecosystem of Lanzarote and La Graciosa continues to show a highly positive growth rate. So far this year, the Ventanilla Única Empresarial (VUE-PAE) of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, a service financed by the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, has successfully managed the creation of more than a hundred new companies and self-employed individuals. This key tool for the dynamization of our local economy is consolidating itself as the main point of reference for new business projects on the island, facilitating a notable reduction in initial times and costs.
The VUE-PAE operates as a fully centralized instrument that allows for the unification of general activity registration procedures. Through the Electronic Single Document (DUE), entrepreneurs can formalize their registration with the State Tax Administration Agency (model 036), the Canary Islands Tax Agency (model 400), and the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers (RETA) of Social Security in a single step.
The new virtual assistant “LEO”, promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands, is added to face-to-face assistance to speed up business establishment and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.
Likewise, the Chamber of Commerce offers a comprehensive service of continuous advice and support throughout the entire life of the business, guiding promoters in their tax and labor obligations, as well as in accessing current subsidies.
Institutional coordination to strengthen the business fabric
The constant evolution of these figures and the consolidation of new projects on our islands are a reflection of solid institutional coordination and the co-financing provided by the Directorate General for Economic Promotion and Diversification of the Government of the Canary Islands and by the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
Both administrations maintain close collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce to promote self-employment, modernize the productive sectors of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and simplify the obstacles that traditionally slow down local entrepreneurship.
In the words of the counselor of the Economic Promotion Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Nori Machín, "with these actions we are supporting entrepreneurs, offering them more competitive tools and services that strengthen their activity and consolidate public-private relationships”.
LEO: technological innovation at the service of the entrepreneur
Within the framework of the Chamber's and public institutions' commitment to digitalization, the entrepreneurship support ecosystem in the islands now incorporates LEO, an innovative Artificial Intelligence tool developed by the Ministry of Economy, Industry, Trade and Self-Employed of the Government of the Canary Islands.
Available on the public portal Emprender en Canarias and on the Chamber's website, LEO provides personalized assistance to users based on the economic activity they wish to develop and their geographical location. This virtual agent helps predict project needs, reduces management-related uncertainty, and connects entrepreneurs more agilely with different levels of administration (city councils, island councils, and regional government).
During the presentation of the tool, the vice-president of the Government of the Canary Islands and minister of Economy, Industry, Trade and Self-Employed, Manuel Domínguez, emphasized that "With this initiative, the Canary Islands are taking a decisive step towards a more modern, efficient, and competitive administrative model, capable of attracting investment, generating employment, and responding to the real needs of society."
The combination of the in-person and expert assistance offered by the Chamber of Commerce's One-Stop Shop with the immediacy and technological accessibility of LEO establishes an unprecedented support framework in the archipelago, paving the way for bureaucracy not to be a hindrance to the economic development of our society.
