Starting next Tuesday, November 3, and until Sunday the 8th, coinciding with the European Day of Wine Tourism, the Regulatory Council of the D.O. of Lanzarote Wines celebrates the first edition of Malvasía: Lanzarote Wine Week.

This event was born with the aim of paying tribute to Lanzarote wines and all the people involved in their process. For this, a calendar of activities has been designed that will be aimed especially at the local public, in order to bring this product closer to the citizens of Lanzarote.

Specifically, the agenda includes the celebration of "The Sumillier at home", a theoretical-practical introductory tasting course that will take place on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the talk "Malvasías to the world", about the peculiarities of volcanic malvasía, which will be offered on Thursday the 6th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Both the course and the talk will be given by the company Vinus Modum and will take place in the Qué Muac-Castillo de San José Restaurant. Those who wish to participate can reserve their place at the email address; [email protected]. Places are limited.

Likewise, live radio programs will be broadcast from different wineries, giving the voices of the sector the opportunity to tell the singularities of the sector in the first person.

As a closing, on Sunday, in homage to the European Day of Wine Tourism, a low-difficulty hiking route will be carried out through the wine landscape in the interior of Lanzarote. The route includes a guided tour of the El Grifo Winery and its museum, wine tasting and live music. The departure time will be at 09:00, the price per person is €6 (information and reservations on 690053282 or at [email protected]). Through the website of the Regulatory Council (www.dolanzarote.com) and its social profiles, you can find out about the open days that will take place in several wineries on the same Sunday.

In the words of the President of the Regulatory Council, Rafael Morales, "Malvasía seeks to consolidate year after year as a new way of showing the great effort made by the winegrowers and winemakers of our island to achieve a wine of the highest quality. There is no doubt that the success of the sector depends, to a large extent, on the support of the people of Lanzarote. We invite all of them to participate and enjoy this great week of wine".
