The airline Binter inaugurated this Monday the direct route that will connect Tenerife and Lisbon every Thursday and Sunday. The outbound flight took off from Tenerife North at 12:15 p.m. to land in the Portuguese capital at 2:20 p.m., from where it returned at 3:00 p.m. to arrive at 5:15 p.m. in Tenerife.

This inaugural trip was attended by the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Isaac Castellano; the general director of Tourism Planning and Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands, Candelaria Umpiérrez, and the Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Alberto Bernabé, as representatives of the institutions that have collaborated in the implementation of this new connection.

Upon arrival at Tenerife North Airport, the Binter flight was received with the traditional water arch made by the airport firefighters and the passengers were treated to a snack and a commemorative cake. In addition, the Cabildo of Tenerife gave them a welcome gift.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Isaac Castellano, thanked Binter for its commitment to this route "which is also the result of the incentives established by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Flight Development Fund." Castellano explained that the Government's internationalization strategy needs connectivity and assured that through this route not only are more possibilities opened to tourism, "but also possibilities for establishing business".

For his part, the Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Alberto Bernabé, who participated in a press conference in Lisbon to present the route, highlighted the great opportunity it represents to attract a greater number of Portuguese tourists to the Island and explained that the schedules designed by Binter make it easy to make short getaways from Lisbon to Tenerife, located just two hours away by flight.

The Director of Institutional Relations and Communication of Binter, Noelia Curbelo, highlighted the airline's commitment to connectivity between the Canary Islands and Portugal, a country with which it has been operating since 2005, and recalled that through Binter's inter-island connections you can get from Lisbon to any corner of the Archipelago.

"Binter is making a great effort to improve air connectivity within the Canary Islands and that of the Islands with the exterior and a clear proof of this is the great investment that the company is making in the modernization of its fleet," said Noelia Curbelo.
