The Lanzarote and La Graciosa Chamber of Commerce held the DemoDay for the first edition of Impulsa Startup yesterday afternoon, a pioneering program in the Canary Islands that is part of an initiative by the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, developed by the network of territorial Chambers and co-financed by the European Union.
The program also has co-financing from the Cabildo de Lanzarote and is aimed at validating business ideas and strengthening projects with growth potential through individualized mentoring and specialized support. The event was inaugurated by the vice-president of the Chamber, Carmen Martinón, who highlighted the value of innovative entrepreneurship for the island's economic future.
Training, Mentorship, and Real Project Development
The 12 participating entrepreneurs have completed a 36-hour training itinerary, mentoring sessions with leading professionals, and individualized support from tutors.
The process culminated in the Demo Day, where each project was presented in a pitch format to the audience and the jury.
Benty, active and sustainable tourism from Lanzarote
The jury selected Benty, developed by Marlene Merle, as the winning project. The proposal brings together Lanzarote's best sustainable sports plans and experiences with the aim of promoting active living and more responsible tourism on the island. It responds to a growing trend: visitors are looking to connect with their destination through physical activities and authentic experiences.
Benty works in collaboration with 4 and 5-star hotels, which offer these experiences as added value to their guests' stays, contributing to a more diversified and environmentally friendly tourism offering.
Commitment to entrepreneurship and economic diversification
The Chamber of Commerce highlighted the program's role as a tool to strengthen the local business fabric, promote innovation, and foster the economic diversification of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
Impulsa Startup confirms the institution's commitment to more competitive, sustainable entrepreneurship aligned with the island's economic future.
This initiative is funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), within the framework of the Education, Training, Employment and Social Economy Programme 2021–2027. #EuropaSeSiente
