The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has opened the door this Wednesday for children between 5 and 11 years old to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in schools after Christmas.
In response to a question from ASG in the control session, he pointed out that vaccination "will begin with immunocompromised children and older children in health centers and 'vaccination centers." In addition, he has been "convinced" that parents "will vaccinate their children en masse to be safer and help cut the transmission of the virus."
Torres has highlighted that the Canary Islands is the fifteenth autonomous community in accumulated incidence in the group between 5 and 11 years old, and at the same time, it is the one that "presents the highest incidence in these age groups", so he hopes that vaccination will serve to "bend the sixth wave."
The spokesperson for ASG, Casimiro Curbelo, commented that until the third dose of the vaccine and the immunization of children are consolidated, "risks are run," so he has asked parents for an effort and that vaccination also take place in schools. "Don't make the mistake, it's the best, they are safe and effective vaccines," he said.
