The Government has highlighted that it is complying with the agreed schedule by announcing that two new transfers of unaccompanied migrant minors seeking asylum will take place from the Canary Islands this week.
Sources from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration specify to EFE that, in the interest of their protection and security, the locations of the transfers will not be made public in order to "protect these children as much as possible to prevent them from being subjected to persecution."
To date, more than 240 minors have already left the Canary Islands reception system, to which must be added almost 40 young people who have reached the age of majority and who have also been referred to the state International Protection reception system.
The sources say that they are enabling more places, reinforcing specialized care teams and improving infrastructure.
The Ministry emphasizes that territorial cooperation is key to ensuring that each minor has an adequate environment for reception, schooling and health care, which is why each one has a personalized file that includes their administrative, educational and health situation.
The Government's thesis contrasts with the position of the Canary Islands Executive, which, after a new meeting this Tuesday of the committee for the referral of unaccompanied migrant minors seeking asylum, has reproached the central government for continuing "without having an established plan and a schedule" to carry out the referrals of young people that the archipelago hosts to the peninsula.
