King Felipe and Queen Letizia will begin a series of visits to all the autonomous communities next week, an initiative that will extend throughout the month of July and with which they want to support economic, social and cultural activity. According to sources from Zarzuela, the first trip will be to the Canary Islands on the 23rd, once the state of alarm has ended throughout Spain.
In addition to promoting the most characteristic activities of each community, the visit will allow the Kings to "thank and recognize in person the effort that the entire Spanish society is making to overcome the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic."
During the months that the state of alarm has lasted, the Kings have maintained their activity, initially with fundamentally telematic meetings with representatives of multiple sectors of the economy and society.
However, the King also had face-to-face meetings with numerous members of the Government, with the National Center for Monitoring and Coordination of Emergencies and with the military responsible for Operation Balmis.
In recent weeks, the head of state and his wife have introduced a certain 'de-escalation' in their agenda, increasing their face-to-face meetings.
Thus, last week they visited the High Performance Center (CAR) sports center in Madrid, coinciding with the return to training of athletes and the Matadero cultural center in Madrid.
