The Port Authority of Las Palmas has completed the extension of the Naos dock in Arrecife (Lanzarote), a work that has provided this infrastructure with 150 new meters of berthing, with an investment of almost twelve million euros.

In a statement, the president of the Port Authority, Beatriz Calzada, explains that this work was intended to cover the operations of regular line and ro-ro cargo ships that dock at the Los Mármoles dock in the face of certain wind and waves situations, which is generating certain problems in the operation.

She adds that the extension of the Naos dock comes to solve an operability problem of the companies Armas and Fred Olsen, which are currently sharing a single berth in Los Mármoles without both companies being able to use it at the same time, which causes delays in their operations.

"At this moment, it is being studied that Fred Olsen begins to operate in the extension of the Naos dock and Armas does so in the Mármoles dock, which would allow both to expand their work windows and improve their frequencies with the island of Fuerteventura", Calzada points out.

The works carried out by the companies FCC and Tiagua have consisted of the extension of the berthing line of the Naos dock in 149.70 linear meters, with a width of operations area of 13.10 meters and a ro-ro ramp of 37 meters by 30.5 meters.
