The plenary session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands has rejected with the votes of PSOE, CC, NC, ASG and AHI a proposal by Vox, supported by the PP, in which it was requested "the immediate resignation en bloc of the Government presided over by Pedro Sánchez and the calling of general elections".

The initiative was defended by Vox deputy Paula Jover, who justified it in the six years of "economic, political and moral corruption" and "aggression to the way of life of Spaniards" that she attributed to the Government of Spain.

The initiative was actually aimed at the Government of the Canary Islands (formed by CC and PP), which was asked to demand the resignation of the Government of Spain and the calling of elections; to show its rejection of "the institutional degradation" promoted by the executive, and to show its support for "the public servants" who work "to clarify and prosecute the crimes of this corrupt government".

Of the parties that support the Government of the Canary Islands, CC, ASG and AHI distanced themselves from Vox's proposal, while the PP supported it.

PP deputy Jacob Qadri stated that "the most hygienic thing" is to demand political responsibilities because corruption "is born in Pedro Sánchez's bedroom", and "corners" the leader of the Canarian PSOE, Ángel Víctor Torres, whom he called "liar and cynical".

Nira Fierro, from the PSOE, stated that Vox is not bothered by corruption, but by democracy, and that is why they intend to discredit the institutions and make "accusations as they did in the Franco dictatorship", and challenged the PP to expel from its ranks those involved in corruption cases as she stated that the PSOE does.

CC deputy Jana González said that her party is not going to contribute to institutional degradation because it respects legality and the current legal framework, and accused Vox of proposing initiatives that have nothing to do with the powers of the Canary Islands given its failure in the Congress of Deputies.

For Esther González, from NC, the only institutional degradation is the one represented by Vox, a party that cares "a fig" about corruption, and that only seeks a confrontation with the PSOE Government to "steal the chair" from the PP at the head of the opposition.

ASG deputy Jesús Ramos Chinea defended that in cases of corruption the Justice must be allowed to act and Raúl Acosta, from AHI, accused Vox of trying to destroy and delegitimize the institutions.
