The National Police have arrested the Canarian MMA fighter Jonay S, known as Caracol, and two more accomplices in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for allegedly kidnapping a man to whom they gave a beating to collect a supposed debt linked to drug trafficking, as reported by La Provincia.
Two of the individuals, Caracol and Antonio M., Antony, are currently in pre-trial detention accused of alleged crimes of unlawful detention and assault. The third is under investigation for his participation in the events.
The events took place in the capital's Tamaraceite neighborhood in mid-November. The victim, a resident of La Aldea de San Nicolás, went to a house in this neighborhood to negotiate a debt of 100,000 euros, half of which he had already paid off. However, the meeting was actually a trap to extort him with violence, according to the investigations of the National Police.
The two involved, Caracol and Antony, hit and kicked him hard in the head and torso. Then, they assaulted him with a bladed weapon, similar to a utility knife, so that he would pay the amount owed, even going so far as to threaten to slash parts of his body, according to La Provincia. These assaults caused serious injuries to the victim, who had to undergo surgery for the blows received to his skull and near one of his eyes.
