The magistrate on leave and deputy for Las Palmas of Podemos, Victoria Rosell, will be the new Government delegate for Gender Violence, as confirmed to Europa Press by sources from the purple party.
This body depends on the Ministry of Equality, in charge of the 'number two' of Podemos, Irene Montero, who wanted to have in her team who was one of the star signings of Podemos in 2015.
Rosell, who was spokesperson for Judges for Democracy and is a member of the Association of Women Judges of Spain, was head of the Court of Instruction number 8 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
In 2015 she parked her judicial career to be part of the lists of Podemos in the general elections of December of that year. Although she won a seat, she was forced to resign from her seat as a deputy after the complaint filed against her by the former PP minister José Manuel Soria, a political rival in the Canary Islands, was admitted for processing.
After that complaint was dismissed, Iglesias decided to recover the magistrate for the lists of the general elections of April 2019, which was one of the main signings made by the formation.
