María Australia Navarro presents her resignation to the Presidency of the PP of the Canary Islands

The popular president will not run for re-election

The regional deputy of the PP of the Canary Islands, María Australia Navarro, has presented this Monday her resignation to the Presidency of the PP of the islands on the occasion of the Congress that the party plans to hold on January 22 and 23, 2022 on the island of Tenerife.

"I want to announce my decision not to run for the Presidency of the PP of the Canary Islands in the next Congress, it is a decision that has been carefully considered in recent months, a decision that I have consulted and communicated to the national leadership of my party (...). A decision that responds to a conviction and the conviction is that I believe that now is the time and the opportunity to take a step towards a new leadership and a new impetus to the PP of the Canary Islands", she said.

Navarro made this announcement during a press conference in which she reported that next Thursday, December 2, she will convene the party's board of directors to report on the celebration of the PP of the Canary Islands Congress, for which she will propose that the president of the Organizing Committee of the Congress be Auxiliadora Pérez and the secretary Luz Reverón; while the members, up to a number of six, will be appointed in representation of the other islands and there will also be a member of New Generations.
