The lava delta continues to grow in size

The volcanic eruption of the 'Cumbre Vieja' volcano, which this Friday marks its thirteenth day of emissions, has already destroyed more than 1,000 buildings in its path through the municipalities of El Paso, Los Llanos de Aridane and Tazacorte, according to the latest update from the European satellite 'Copernicus'.

In addition, more than 20 kilometers of roads are affected and the hectares covered by lava exceed 338, including about 17 that correspond to the new fajana that is being created on the coast of Tazacorte and that measures half a kilometer wide, approximately.

According to some volcanologists from the National Geographic Institute (IGN), a new lava flow has appeared on the back of the secondary cone and seismic activity in the south of the island remains active.

In fact, eight new earthquakes have been recorded in the last night, the most intense in the municipality of Mazo, with a magnitude of 3.5 and a depth of 13 kilometers.

Minister Bolaños guarantees in La Palma that the reconstruction after the volcano is an "absolute priority" of the Government

The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, guaranteed this Thursday from La Palma that the reconstruction of the "life projects" of those who "have lost everything" due to the eruption of the volcano on the island is an "absolute priority" for the Government.

Thus, he expressed his total "solidarity with the people who are losing everything, their homes and their belongings": "I am overwhelmed, the reality is truly overwhelming, because it is not only taking away houses and buildings, but there are life projects very affected by those lava flows that take everything ahead".

Bolaños wanted to make it clear to the people of La Palma that "the Government of Spain is going to be with them" and that "the island of La Palma is an absolute priority", as well as that they are working "against the clock" to adopt measures to alleviate what happened.

"We are going to accompany them in this catastrophe in cooperation with all administrations. The Government of Spain is working as the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de La Palma and its city councils are doing. We are all putting the best of ourselves to
fight the volcano and alleviate its effects as much as possible", he said in statements to the media after visiting the facilities of the Advanced Command Post.

Bolaños acknowledged that he still does not know "how many days we will have of emergency", but he did guarantee that they are and will continue "working with all" the "forces". "We are going to continue working when the volcano stops, because for the Government it is an absolute priority," he concluded.
