The lava coming out of the 'Cumbre Vieja' volcano, in El Paso (La Palma), has covered a total of 212 hectares since the eruption began on Sunday, September 19, destroying 461 buildings and infrastructures so far, in addition to 16.9 kilometers of roads, according to data from the European Union's Copernicus satellite program.
Thus, the lava already covers 21.4 hectares more than in the last update on Friday afternoon, while the buildings destroyed in its path have also grown by 41 properties.
The Copernicus program, coordinated through the National Center for Monitoring and Coordination of Emergencies (CENEM), has devices for monitoring and tracking national alert networks, potential risk situations, incidents and emergencies in the field of civil protection.
The island's volcanic traffic light remains red, in a state of emergency, and the eruptive process continues with a new mouth that has opened on Friday afternoon and has forced the evacuation of the nearest populated areas.

The volcanic tremor decreases "significantly" during the last hours
The volcanic tremor has decreased "significantly" during the last hours in the stations of the Canary Seismic Network on the island of La Palma, according to the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan).
In this sense, the institution has recalled that the volcanic tremor is related to the intensity of the Strombolian explosive activity of the volcano.
For his part, the technical director of the Canary Islands Volcanic Emergency Plan (Pevolca), Miguel Ángel Morcuende, this Saturday made a call to the people of La Palma and the public to remain calm with the evolution of the Cumbre Vieja volcano because it is not facing a phenomenon "more explosive" than a usual eruption of the Canary Islands.
"We are facing a fissural volcanic event of Strombolian character, which means that the different emission centers that are succeeding each other do so along a fissure, in this case in a northwest-southeast direction, in which a series of emission centers appear that can be extinguished and new ones appear or even reappear the already extinguished ones," he said during the press conference after the meeting of the Pevolca Steering Committee.
