The Government of the Canary Islands has responded to 35% of the allegations presented to the preliminary draft law on the regulation of holiday homes, in total about 3,000, and is "moving firmly" to strengthen the changes that need to be made to the legal text "after dialogue with citizens."
This was stated this Tuesday by the Minister of Tourism of the Regional Executive, Jéssica de León (PP), during the plenary session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands in response to a question from the deputy of the Canarian Coalition José Manuel Bermúdez, to whom she thanked the contributions of the Santa Cruz City Council to the preliminary draft.
Thus, de León stressed that the law that is born will be the result of "the greatest possible consensus" and announced that in June they will take the consultations on campsites and camping to the Regional Chamber.
In his speech, Bermúdez said that in this "moment of revision of the tourism model", which involves the regulation of holiday homes, it is important that there is a public debate and that legal certainty is given to the administrations, in addition to the need to guarantee financial sufficiency to implement the measures established by the law.
