The Ministry of Finance and Relations with the European Union has appointed Cristina Domínguez Beautell as the new delegate of the Government of the Canary Islands in Brussels. Domínguez replaces José Sánchez Ruano in the position.
The Minister of Finance and Relations with the European Union, Matilde Asián, has highlighted her "solid career and experience" before the European institutions in the defense of the Canary Islands' uniqueness in the face of Europe.
Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Cristina Domínguez is a specialist technician in European affairs at the Canary Islands Government delegation in the Belgian capital, where she has worked since 2003. During her extensive experience, she has actively participated in the decision-making of the Canary Islands' interests in the face of the European Union. A specialist in European policies and instruments, her work has focused on advising, monitoring and defending the Canary Islands model of integration in the European Union and the statute of the outermost regions.
A Law graduate from the University of La Laguna, she previously worked for the Sociedad Canaria de Fomento Económico (Sofesa), the Economic Union of the Outermost Regions of the European Community (UPEC) and Europe and the French Overseas Departments (Eurodom).
