The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo (Coalición Canaria), has assured that the Canary Executive will not promote any gathering, although he has pointed out that those who wish to attend may do so on an individual basis.
“We are not going to indicate any gathering, but it is true that all those people who freely wish to attend that gathering will have to do so on an individual basis,” he indicated.
Regarding the expert report indicating Morocco's role in the Ceuta crisis
The Canary President has expressed his "perplexity" at the appearance of an expert report prepared within the Ministry of the Interior which, as he pointed out, already warned of what was going to happen during the assault on the Ceuta border and highlighted the "intentionality and collaboration" of the Moroccan Gendarmerie.
“For a long time it has been said that there had been no warning, attempts have been made to divert attention, and now an expert report appears within the Ministry of the Interior itself that already warned of what was going to happen and that, moreover, already highlighted the intentionality and collaboration of the Moroccan Gendarmerie in that assault,” he stated.
Clavijo responded in this way when asked by journalists about the police report, which was first reported by El Español, that warned the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, of the massive arrival of migrants in Ceuta at the end of July and which points to the alleged intervention of Morocco in the Ceuta migratory crisis.
The Canary President has insisted on his surprise at the existence of this document and has stated that this situation causes a loss of confidence in institutions.
“Therefore, perplexed because, in the end, obviously, confidence in institutions is lost,” he stated.
Clavijo has indicated that he does not know “if it is due to a political maneuver,” although he has emphasized the commitment of the Government of the Canary Islands to the state security forces and bodies.
“Certainly, at least, we are sure and committed to the state security forces and bodies, which do demonstrate that seriousness and rigor in their actions,” he concluded.
