The president of the Nationalist Parliamentary Group (CC), David Toledo, asked in the Plenary of the Parliament of the Canary Islands about the actions that the Government plans to promote to demand that "the measures included in the Canarian Agenda be fulfilled to favor the increase of the remuneration of workers established by employers above what is agreed in collective agreements.” In addition, Toledo regretted that both PSOE and Nueva Canarias "criticize the intention that the 2025 Budget incorporate tax breaks" for those companies that raise salaries above collective agreements.

According to the president of the Nationalists in Parliament, “this measure responds to the precariousness that many groups denounce, and because the average salary in the Canary Islands is very far from the average salary in the State.” For this reason, he explained, “the responsibility is to find solutions so that people have decent salaries.”

David Toledo pointed out that “it is regrettable that the opposition's attitude is to criticize for the sake of criticism.” In this line, he reminded the PSOE that "they signed the Canarian Agenda in Madrid", and Nueva Canarias that "this measure is within their electoral program." According to the president of the Nationalist Parliamentary Group, “either the PSOE and Nueva Canarias are unaware of what was signed in the Canarian Agenda, or their only vocation is to make noise for the sake of it.” In his opinion, “both options are very serious.”

David Toledo has asked the socialists for “seriousness and rigor” for being the main opposition party and, in addition, signatories of the Canarian Agenda. In this sense, he recalled that “the best option is the ability to listen to the government's proposals.”

For his part, the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, has assured that “this Government seeks to ensure that the Canary Islands and their families have more disposable income and the average salary increases.” According to Clavijo, other measures can probably be applied, but applying the same recipes of the last four years translates into more poverty, less social justice and more unequal distribution of income, “because that is the consequence of the previous government's management.”

According to the President of the Canary Islands, the initiative is the result of "a work process" launched during the pandemic called 'Canarias te necesita' (Canary Islands needs you), in which, after a "broad period of listening to all the groups involved, we have decided to include it in the Canarian Agenda”, because “either we do things differently, or we will not have different results,” they have concluded.
