Canary Islands registers 135 new cases and two more deaths in the last 24 hours

The Canary Islands have carried out 573,218 tests so far, of which 26,395 were positive, representing 4.6 percent of the total.

The Canary Islands have added 135 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, so the archipelago currently has 20,609 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, and has had to mourn two deaths --one in Tenerife and another in Gran Canaria-- bringing the number of deaths to 331 in the islands.

Thus, of the total cases registered in the Canary Islands, 4,258 are active, which is 54 less than a day ago, according to data published by the Canary Islands Ministry of Health after 2:00 p.m.

Currently, of the active cases in the islands, 39 people are in an Intensive Care Unit (+1), 191 on hospital wards (-9) and 4,028 are isolated in their homes. Also, a total of 16,020 people (+187) have been discharged after contracting the coronavirus virus.

Regarding the accumulated incidence, the Canary Islands registers 39.19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days, while in 14 days it rises to 77.55.

As for tests, a total of 573,218 tests have been carried out in the Canary Islands so far, of which 26,395 were positive, representing 4.6 percent of the total.

By islands

Regarding the cases of coronavirus by islands, Gran Canaria continues to lead in number of cases with 9,328 by adding 26 in the last 24 hours, of which 1,285 are active (-132), while 127 people have died (+1) and 7,916 have overcome the disease.

It is followed by Tenerife with 8,612 cases registered since the pandemic began (+96), of which 2,842 are active (+81), 184 have died (+1) and 5,586 have been discharged.

After it is Lanzarote with 1,385 cases (+3), of which 52 are active (-2), nine have perished and 1,324 people have overcome the disease.

Fuerteventura, meanwhile, has accumulated 892 cases (+8), of which 56 remain active, four died and 832 were discharged; La Palma remains with 213 cases, of which nine are active (-3), six died and 198 overcame the disease.

La Gomera closes the list with 109 cases (+2), of which 11 are active (+2), 98 have been discharged and has not had to mourn deaths; while El Hierro has 69 cases, of which two are active, in addition to registering one death and 66 discharges.
