The Government of the Canary Islands and the Government of Spain "maintain discrepancies" after the transfer of the management of coasts regarding the continuity of the files in progress, which in the opinion of the autonomous Executive should be managed by whoever now has the competence, so it does not rule out going to the Constitutional Court to solve it.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of the Presidency, Antonio Olivera (PSOE), in the press conference after the Governing Council, where he said that he hopes it will not be necessary to go to that point, while pointing out that the legal services of the autonomous community will soon issue an optional report on the matter, based on which they will act.

The files that generate these disagreements are those referring to several hotels, he said, and insisted that if since January 1 the Canary Islands has the competence, these procedures must be continued by the autonomous community.

"If the reports of the legal services prove us right, we will raise a conflict of powers with the State. We are going to defend any issue that may imply a detriment to our competence in this matter and we will go as far as we have to go," Olivera stressed.

In any case, the Government spokesperson has made a positive assessment of this first month with the transferred powers and has assured that "relevant progress is being made."

"Some sectors have expressed their satisfaction. The difference is noticeable in the area of ports or audiovisual because it is a closer and more direct response adapted to the particularities of the Canary Islands," Olivera concluded.
