Canary Islands adds 801 new covid infections and three deaths in the last 24 hours

The Canary Islands has registered 801 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, so the total number of accumulated cases in the Islands now rises to 74,885 with 11,711 active, of which 66 are admitted to the ICU and 394 remain hospitalized, according to data from the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands Government.

The highest number of infections has been recorded in the age group of young people between 20 and 29 years old, with 201 cases. The age group of 0-9 years old accounts for 58 new infections; the 10-19 year olds, 156; the 30-39 year olds, 124; the 40-49 year olds, 91; the 50-59 year olds, 73; the 60-69 year olds, 45; the 70-79 year olds, 29, and the group of people over 80 years old adds 24 new infections.

In the last hours, the death of three people has been registered, two in Gran Canaria and one in Tenerife. The total number of deaths in the islands since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 811, of which 457 have been in Tenerife; 280 in Gran Canaria; 50 in Lanzarote; 13 in Fuerteventura; 7 in La Palma; 4 in El Hierro, and 1 in La Gomera.

The Accumulated Incidence (IA) at 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 243.94 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the IA at 14 days at 438.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. To date, a total of 1,783,071 PCR tests have been carried out in the islands, of which 8,126 correspond to the last 24 hours.

By islands, Tenerife adds 434 new infections with a total of 35,881 accumulated cases and 6,929 epidemiologically active; Gran Canaria has 28,049 accumulated cases, 299 more than the previous day, and 3,861 active; Lanzarote adds 18 positives, with 6,030 accumulated and 165 active, and Fuerteventura has 3,249 accumulated cases, with 33 more than the previous day, and 471 active.

La Palma adds eight new cases, so it has 912 accumulated and 190 active; El Hierro does not add new cases, so it continues with 415 accumulated and 13 active cases, while La Gomera adds eight new positives, with 347 accumulated and 81 active.
