The PP senator for Gran Canaria, Sergio Ramos, has described the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, as "cocky" and "arrogant" for "showing up" in Lanzarote to spend a few days of vacation "in a Royal Palace" and not receiving "first" the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo.
In a message published on X, reposted by the PP of the Canary Islands, which he heads with the phrase "let's be clear", Ramos reproaches Sánchez for "inviting" the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and not Clavijo despite the "serious situation" that the archipelago is experiencing "due to immigration".
"It's embarrassing", Sergio Ramos concludes, who is the PP's Migration spokesperson in the Senate and deputy mayor of the Telde City Council, in Gran Canaria.
Previously, the organization secretary of the Canarian Coalition (CC), David Toledo, had also reproached Pedro Sánchez for "having time" to receive Salvador Illa during their stay in Lanzarote, but not to do the same with the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo.
Toledo considers it "incomprehensible" that Pedro Sánchez "has not had even an hour to meet" with Clavijo "or leave the La Mareta palace to learn about the reality that is lived at the foot of the dock, where hundreds of volunteers offer their time and affection to care for these people and where resources are scarce".
Last Thursday, Clavijo himself indicated that "it would be convenient" for Sánchez to receive him in Lanzarote because they both have "many things to talk about", especially immigration.
