A new tongue of lava that split off this past Wednesday from the main flow has reached El Charcón beach this noon, on the coast of the municipality of Tazacorte, about 600 meters from the lava delta.
Specifically, it is a branch of the main flow that ran further south that has reached the lava delta that was formed during the eruption of the San Juan volcano (1949), between Los Guirres beach and El Charcón.
This has forced the evacuation of the population and also scientists and emergency technicians in the La Bombilla area. In addition, air quality is decreasing due to the entry of a cloud from the eruptive mouth.
