The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has confirmed a new positive case of coronavirus on the island of La Gomera of a resident in the municipality of Valle Gran Rey related to the outbreak in Italy.
From the department headed by Teresa Cruz, they have specified that this woman, who was traveling in Italy between February 4 and 8, is admitted and isolated in the General Hospital of La Gomera.
The next step will be to carry out the second tests to confirm or rule out this first positive at the Carlos III Health Institute in Madrid, as established by the protocol for these cases.
Thus, there are already five people who have tested positive for coronavirus in the Canary Islands, in addition to the German tourist from La Gomera with the virus who has already been discharged from hospital.
The other four Italian tourists who are admitted and isolated in the Hospital de La Candelaria after being infected with coronavirus are in good health --two without symptoms and two others with very mild condition-- and the rest of the tourists who had close contact with them have tested negative in the tests.
