The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has reported an outbreak of covid-19 detected among members of a soccer team from the municipality of Fuencaliente, on the island of La Palma, with 20 people affected who are already in isolation.

These are players from UD Fuencaliente, who have already undergone rapid coronavirus detection tests, and are still waiting for the results of the PCR tests that have also been performed on them.

The Ministry has confirmed to the Fuencaliente City Council that the Sentinel Network is working intensively to narrow the circle among possible people who have had contact with the detected cases.

For this reason, the mayor, Gregorio Alonso, has shown the willingness of the City Council and the availability of the health authorities for everything that has to do with the collaboration and detection of other cases.

The Consistory has also taken as a preventive measure the decision to close all sports facilities in the municipality, until they can be properly disinfected by a specialized company.

Gregorio Alonso has emphasized that all the health protection measures that are available to the Fuencaliente City Council have been taken, conveying a message of tranquility to the residents of the municipality.
