Roadside workers criticize "lack of tools" to work

The group of workers has blamed the Cabildo of Lanzarote, specifically Jacobo Medina, for "expediting the procedures" to "make the subrogation"

The 30 private cleaning employees on the roadsides of Lanzarote have complained that they cannot work due to "lack of tools". According to what they have told La Voz, the UTE Aceinsa Movilidad SA - Señalizaciones Conejeras SL, which offers the service, "does not have the trucks or tools" available to carry out the cleaning work.

"We are at the workplace without anything, the company that was going to take the concession had nothing prepared," the workers pointed out. The service concessionaire is a Temporary Union of Companies (UTE), formed by Señalcom S.L and Aceinsa.

The group of workers has blamed the Cabildo of Lanzarote, specifically the Councilor for Public Works, Jacobo Medina, for "expediting the procedures" to "make the subrogation".

"The Cabildo has rushed to do it before the end of the year and has given the concession for the roadsides to a private company, without having anything," the worker revealed.

The workers were demanding a "permanent position" from the Island Council, so the objective has been "to do it quickly so as not to have the workers subrogated for more than a year," he added.

In addition, one of the employees made it clear that "Medina told us that a new specification was going to be made", something "we believe is false", since the company "has returned again with the 2021 specification", the man pointed out.

Thus, the employees complain that the actions "are biased. Everything has been politicized and we are paying for it," they pointed out.
