A resident of Costa Teguise and father of a player from C.D. Costa Teguise–Palmeiros has contacted La Voz to express his “incomprehension and displeasure” regarding the new schedule at the Costa Teguise Municipal Field, a decision that, he claims, has put the municipality's youth football teams at a disadvantage.
The complainant assures that the Department of Sports has applied a redistribution of training spaces and times this season “without consulting local clubs and without offering any kind of public explanation”. As a consequence, he maintains that the Palmeiros' Benjamín and Alevín teams have lost part of the space and time they had been using for years.
According to their version, this restructuring would have prioritized a senior team from Arrecife, an "adult and external to the municipality" group that, they claim, has been placed ahead of local youth teams. "There is no sporting, social, or developmental reason that justifies children having to train with less field space to benefit a newly arrived senior team," they lamentThe neighbor particularly criticizes the lack of information from the Department of Sports, which he accuses of acting "without public criteria, without reasoned resolution, and without transparency." In his opinion, the decision "directly harms the minors of the municipality" and responds to "interests that no one has explained."He concludes by demanding that grassroots sports be "the priority" and calls for "dignified and respectful" treatment for the children of Costa Teguise, who —he insists— "support local sports day by day."
