A citizen has contacted *La Voz* to report the "plague of enormous rats" coming out of the Casa Modernista, also known as the Casa del Cura, in Famara.

The complainant emphasizes that this situation further aggravates the problems derived from the structural deterioration of the building, "not only is it falling on top of my house, but now we also have this plague."

Furthermore, the affected party asks the City Council to "do something about it, enough is enough," she says, indignant

Situation of the House

The property, built in the early 20th century by order of the local patron Luis Ramírez for vacation use, was ceded in 1935 to the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de Teguise parish. It currently belongs to the Canarian Diocese and is listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), monument category, with precautionary protection since 2021.

Despite numerous administrative procedures, the works have not started. The Island Council authorized the basic project in May 2023, and the City Council granted a license between the end of 2023 and the beginning of this year; however, delays persist, attributed to inter-institutional negotiations on the future use or possible public purchase.
