The photographer from Lanzarote, Juan Méndez, has once again taken an impressive photograph of the island. On this occasion, he captured the partial solar eclipse that Lanzarote experienced this Wednesday, August 12, with a very special scene: a camel driver and a camel, historical symbols of Lanzarote.
To take these photographs, Méndez carried out the planning of the scene. The images were taken from the Papagayo area, in the Los Ajaches Natural Monument, in Playa Blanca (Yaiza). The scene shows the silhouette of the camel Federico, next to the camel driver Antonio Morales.
In addition to his photographic equipment, Méndez used a solar filter and solar glasses to protect himself from the Sun's radiation during the eclipse.
"Everything turned out in perfect conditions," says Méndez during a conversation with La Voz, where he recounts that there is always the fear that clouds might cover the sky and prevent capturing the image, but that on this occasion everything went well.
"Today the sky gifts us one of those moments that will go down in history," added Méndez in a social media post, which has already accumulated thousands of interactions.
