A resident of Costa Teguise has sent a complaint to La Voz de Lanzarote regarding the state of the lighting on several stretches of the municipality's promenade, which he claims have been "in complete darkness for months," creating risky situations for residents, athletes, and tourists.
According to his account, he goes out to train every afternoon-evening in the coastal area, a walk he describes as "one of the biggest attractions of Costa Teguise," with the moonlight reflecting on the sea and creating a scene "worthy of a postcard." However, he assures that this beauty contrasts with "the absolute neglect of the City Council" in terms of lighting and maintenance.
The neighbor denounces that between the sections of El Jablillo and Las Cucharas, as well as between Los Charcos beach and the end of the promenade, the streetlights "have not worked for a long time," leaving large areas in darkness. This situation, he claims, recently caused him to fall.
"I just fell down one of the entrances to the beach, on some stairs that can't be seen at night without moonlight. They aren't marked and it's dangerous," she explains in her post.
The affected person acknowledges that they even thought it was "their fault for running in forgotten and dangerous places," but finally decided to report it publicly upon realizing that "the problem persists and no one is acting."In his message, he launches a direct criticism at the Teguise City Council: "I thought I lived in a municipality where quality is the council's top priority. I thought... and in the end, I did the same thing you do: I stopped thinking. I forgot about the municipality and thought that you only think about yourselves and your well-being."
The neighbor concludes his complaint with a question directed at the council: "That's what I thought... and what do you all think?"
