A reader has contacted La Voz to report the accumulation of rubble and trash near the IES Puerto de Carmen, in the municipality of Tías.
"How is it possible that a landfill is built just 200 meters north of Lidl and 100 meters south of the Puerto del Carmen institute?", this citizen asks.
As he points out, people travel through this area via different paths, but "first you have to cross this landfill where large quantities of stone have been dumped and, what's worse, large quantities of remains of demolished houses and other waste".
"It's a sad image, and one wonders if this landfill hides dangerous things that should not have been dumped near where people live," the reader points out.
In addition, he points out that a chain has been placed at the entrance to the site, but "the remains of garbage indicate that not much time has passed since demolition material was brought in."
For all this, asks the Tías City Council to take measures in this regard and remove the debris to return the area to its original state. "It makes no sense to ruin such a beautiful area of Puerto del Carmen", concludes.
