A family from Yaiza has contacted La Voz to report the situation they are going through due to the lack of response from the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands so that their son with a disability has a nursing assistant during his school days.

The child, four years old, suffers from epilepsy and has a recognized disability. His family states that he is enrolled in CEIP Yaiza, but that the Ministry of Education has not provided him with health personnel to attend to the minor.

Thus, they explain that they requested that he could have a nursing assistant or nurse at the center, but that the authorization from the Ministry of Education is still pending.

The family assures that they have been waiting for a response and a solution since the beginning of the school year, while the minor continues to attend school without the requested health support.

"The teachers are not prepared to face a situation like the one that could occur if my son has an epileptic seizure. We do not want to wait for an emergency to occur for action to be taken. Our son needs this support urgently," explains his mother.

In this regard, the family clarifies that they do not question the work of the teachers or the staff of CEIP Yaiza and that they appreciate the effort they make. Their claim is aimed at ensuring that the center has the specialized personnel necessary to attend to the minor's health needs.

The parents ask the Ministry of Education to give a response and adopt the necessary measures as soon as possible to guarantee the child's safety during his school day.
