Workers from the official stop area Hotel Salinas have contacted La Voz to report the use of public bus stops by private companies.
According to their reports, the island's public transport network IntercityBus Lanzarote suffers from a recurring problem that has gone from being a nuisance to a daily risk. The parking of private buses at stops belonging to the public network leaves no space for IntercityBus buses, which sometimes leave without stopping because they cannot find a parking space. Therefore, people who use public buses are forced to be watchful to see them arrive from a distance and signal them to get on, stopping in the middle of the road in an area overshadowed by private companies.
This is not a recent case; the problem has existed for years. However, it has worsened due to the one-way traffic on the road.
These workers comment that the Hotel Salinas stop is an official stop that many excursion agencies and shuttle services use as a "meeting point" for tourists staying in various hotels in the area, such as Hotel Paradisus Salinas, Meliá Salinas, or the northern area of Avenida Islas Canarias.
They also consider that the best location to avoid traffic congestion is los Zocos (Club Resort). The design of the road and the space in front of the complex's facilities make it an ideal area where most organized excursions stop (Rancho Texas, airport transfers, island tours, etc.).
