Last Wednesday, a tuna boat ran aground in Órzola, in the north of Lanzarote, a tuna boat. The boat, on which five migrants were traveling, burned on the same morning of its arrival and forced the activation of the National Maritime Plan for marine pollution, as well as the island plan, due to the presence of fuel in the water.
According to the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, work was carried out throughout the week and also on the morning of this past Saturday in the La Condesa area, where the fishing boat ran aground, to collect the remains of the boat that were still in the sea.
After receiving the notice from the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) for the reopening of the beaches of Caletón Blanco and El Charco de La Condesa, the mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, contacted Health Department so that they could carry out the relevant analyses and thus verify if the beaches could be reopened. For the moment, awaiting these results, both beaches remain fenced off.
However, a reader has reported that during this Saturday, September 13, dozens of cars parked in the town of Órzola and in front of the fences that prohibited passage and bathed on the beach of Caletón Blanco, despite its prohibition.
