A reader has contacted La Voz to report a case of animal abuse in an urbanization in Costa Teguise that occurred on June 25. Apparently, someone threw boiling water on one of the cats in the colony that exists in this place, which caused very serious burns to the animal.
According to the neighbor, "a little over five years ago, the property was converted into luxury apartments and, for the most part, today they are intended for vacation homes." For ten years there has been a colony of cats that are sterilized and live freely since then, "although currently there are only four felines left."
This neighbor believes that "some owner or tenant of the complex decided to take justice into their own hands by throwing a very hot liquid on the cat because of their discontent with the animals residing there and to presumably scare it and make it leave the urbanization."
After seeing the cat in such a regrettable state, another neighbor of the urbanization took him to the veterinarian, so he has been able to be assisted with the corresponding treatments and even undergoing surgery, so he is currently recovering from the injuries. In addition, he has taken care of the veterinary bill.
"The animals, despite not having a home as such, are domestic and very affectionate, cared for and fed by both local residents and tourists staying in the complex, demonstrating the kindness and innocence that characterizes them and that sometimes differs greatly from the behavior of some human beings," he says.
Finally, the reader declares that "the community of owners is aware of the facts and has taken action on the matter, so they will take the corresponding legal actions, given that this action, in addition to being classified in the penal code as a crime of animal abuse, is a Dante-esque act caused by a person without scruples."
