Arrecife Bus Station

A resident of Arrecife has written a letter that she wanted to make public through La Voz to denounce "the chaotic situation of transport" on the island.

"I am writing to you to denounce the chaos of the public transport service in Arrecife, which if it is already known to be quite bad, now it is non-existent because there are literally no buses.

My son uses bus number one to go to a high school in the center and, since last week, the bus from Tenderete street, in Argana Alta, which supposedly passes at 07.20 in the morning, either does not pass or if it passes it leaves people at the stop, since being so small, more people do not fit. The same thing is happening with the return.

In this case, I have to leave my job and pick up the child and his classmates but, what about the elderly, mothers with children, people with disabilities, working people who despair because they are not on time? Let's not talk about the conditions of the stops: without seats, without shade... It is heartbreaking to see this panorama at any time of the day.

It is not normal that being already very bad public transport, it also gets worse. A neighborhood like Argana, with an enormous population density, including teenagers who must go to public educational centers, does not provide the service it should. This is something everyone knows, it is not new, but is anything being done to solve it? It is clear that something is not working: neighborhoods must be connected.

Aren't our taxes precisely for that: to sustain the welfare state and that we can access public services in equal conditions? Well, it seems to me that the citizens of the Argana neighborhood are at a disadvantage since every day we are more isolated.

I appeal to the Arrecife City Council and its mayor, to solve it once and for all: whatever the problem is, it must be solved!

I also appeal to citizens to mobilize and make their complaints to the City Council through registration because it is useless to complain in the street and social networks. We must record our discontent in the city council, which is the one that has the powers in this service.
