The start of the season is not being easy for one of the Canarian drivers with the greatest international projection. There are many doubts surrounding the future of Yeray Lemes, who is slowly plucking the daisy of this season. The Copi Sport team will make it possible for him to participate in the Rally Islas Canarias Trophy El Corte Inglés and will do so at the controls of a Ford Fiesta R2. A test in which Yeray Lemes will have Samuel Vega as co-driver.
Many efforts have been made in recent weeks to have a leading car in the Rally Islas Canarias Trophy El Corte Inglés. The young driver from Lanzarote had lost all hope of participating in the rally that will take place in Gran Canaria. The objective was to be in a rally in which Canarian fans would be involved in the ditches of the different sections.
The tenacity and effort of the Lemes family has been key when finding a competitive car. Yeray Lemes will drive the only Ford Fiesta R2 unit in the Canary Islands. Lemes will participate on this occasion with Samuel Vega as co-driver and will do so with the Copi Sport team. A team with which he had already been about to have the services of Yeray Lemes on several occasions and that due to Yeray Lemes' high international objectives, said collaboration was truncated.
Little by little the sporting future of Yeray Lemes is becoming clearer and everything indicates that he will participate again this season in the FIA Academy WRC. Therefore, one of the objectives was to get a Ford Fiesta R2 to participate in the Rally Islas Canarias Trophy El Corte Inglés. A vehicle with similar characteristics to the M-Sport with which it will have worldwide.
Yeray Lemes indicated that it has "been a last minute agreement" with the Copi Sport team. "When I thought I couldn't participate, a last attempt by my father and the good relationship that unites us with Fernando Capdevilla, led us to reach an agreement." The participation of Yeray Lemes with the Copi Sport team in the Rally Islas Canarias Trophy El Corte Inglés, will prevent the participation of Enrique Cruz, who will do the rest of the Canarian world championship events.
Fernando Capdevilla, head of the Copi Sport team, commented that when Yeray Lemes called "I couldn't refuse to give him our R2 unit." And he makes a call for it to be "the first contribution to that of many others who join this program to take Yeray Lemes to the highest levels he deserves."
The participation of Yeray Lemes and Samuel Vega in the Rally Islas Canarias Trophy El Corte Inglés is possible thanks to sponsors such as the Ford Network of the Canary Islands, Costa Teguise, Radio Televisión Canaria, Loro Parque Fundación, Los Compadres, Imex, Naviera Armas and Brodis".
