Victory for Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife to close the preseason

The San José Obrero men's team won 32-29 against Balonmano Ingenio in the Canary Islands Cup

Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife played its last preparation match of the preseason on Saturday afternoon and closed its participation in the Canary Islands Government Cup against Balonmano Ingenio. The Lanzarote team went to halftime with a seven-goal lead, watching as the opponent grew in the second half and jeopardized the victory of the Titerroy team. Javi Santana stopped two seven-meter shots in the final minutes, with the locals winning 32-29. 

The first minutes of the match were quite even with an exchange of goals. Both teams played a fast game, with the purpose of catching the opponent's defense off guard, with the first advantages favoring Balonmano Ingenio. Goals from Ángel Iglesias from seven meters and Mauro Jaureguiberry put Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife two goals up (7-5). 

After passing the halfway point of the first half, Abián Martín scored from seven meters, increasing the lead to three goals and forcing Felipe Dutra to call a timeout (12-9). Upon returning to the court, Balonmano Lanzarote continued to increase the difference with goals from Diego Ruiz and Javi Aragón (14-9). The locals went to halftime with a seven-goal advantage (21-14). 

The panorama of the match changed in the second half, starting the period with a 2-7 partial in favor of Balonmano Ingenio in the first eight minutes of play, forcing David Betancort to call a timeout to stop the opponent's reaction (23-21). 

Balonmano Ingenio had managed to get only two goals down, presenting its credentials against an opponent that had stalled. With eight minutes left for the end of the match, Rodrigo Ortega culminated a fast counterattack to put his team only one goal down (30-29). The turnovers made it possible for Ingenio to have several attacking actions to tie the match. 

In the final minutes of the match, the saves under the posts of Javi Santana were decisive, stopping two seven-meter shots from Gabriel Sánchez and Rodrigo Ortega. The goals of captain Acoidán Martín ended up tipping the match in favor of Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife. 

Victory for Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife by 32 to 29 against Balonmano Ingenio in its last preparation match of the preseason, finishing the Canary Islands Cup in second position, tied on points with Desatascos Jumbo Gáldar. The competition for CB San José Obrero will begin next Sunday, September 15, visiting the court of Calvo Xiria in the first match of the First National Men's League.
