The tenth anniversary of the Trail La Vegueta Sam Parfums was celebrated with a new success, proclaiming its new winners. Valeria Borges won the queen event of 10.5km in the women's category with a time of 55:00, as did Rayco Hernández and Óscar Padrón in the men's category, entering the finish line together in 41:31.
Precisely that family atmosphere, of companionship and sportsmanship is what represents the essence of this event that once again left great images of camaraderie in its four modalities, since to the circuits of 10.5 and 5.5km we must add the participants in Trekking and the always special Chinijos Trail race held the day before. All of them make the Trail La Vegueta Sam Parfums one of the favorite popular competitions for local athletes, managing to exceed 400 participants in this edition.
For the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, this event has a "special charisma because it is organized by young people from the town with all the love, proudly offering a healthy event that is attended every year by hundreds of people from all over the island";. The Councilor for Sports, Vianney Rodríguez, ratified the words of the mayor and added that "the municipality's commitment to this discipline is demonstrated with the celebration of the Tinajo Popular Races Cup", for which the 10.5km of the Vegueta event is valid. To finish, he recalled that "more than 4000 participants have already passed through this humble event".
So much so that the 10.5km modality completed its 160 places before the closing of registration, and this route also has a great reception as it is part of the circuit of events of the Tinajo Popular Races Cup. In the women's category, Cristina Molina (57:54) and Laura Ponce (58:18) completed the podium together with Borges. Like the triathlete Nicholas Ward (42:24), who accompanied the champions of the men's category.
From the organization, carried out by the La Vegueta Festival Commission, they wanted to celebrate this special edition in style by inviting all the historical winners of the event. This is the case of Hugo Pérez, who repeated the triumph of last year in 5.5km with a great time of 21:24; followed by Nicolás Hernández (23:20) and Sadday Delgado (23:20).
Anya Lamprecht was the winner of that same circuit in the women's category, after stopping the clock in 28:37. Aurora García (30:49) won the silver medal, while Idaira Alfonso (31:37) took the bronze in what was her spectacular return to this competition that she already won in 2014, 2015, 2016 and in 2018.
The awards ceremony was then held in the absolute categories, where the medalists were also presented with a basket of local products from the municipality of Tinajo. In addition, the first classified were given a basket of Sam Parfums, and the second were awarded with a free session in Fisiosan.
The celebration on the different podiums served to put the finishing touch in an atmosphere of joy, since we must not forget that this 10th Trail La Vegueta Sam Parfums is celebrated in the middle of the festivities of Ntra. Sra. de Regla and still have an extensive program of activities for the coming days.
