UD Lanzarote maintains the lead in Group XII of the Third Federation, after achieving a valuable draw on Saturday afternoon in their visit to Unión Sur Yaiza. The derby became difficult for the Rojillos in the first half, conceding two goals that put the score at 2-0. Goals from Nami and Moha in the second half leveled the match, before it went crazy with Garrido's goal for the locals and Junior's for UD Lanzarote.
The first part of the match was quite even, with Moha giving a warning in the 5th minute with a shot from the edge of the area that was stopped by goalkeeper Sione. A defensive error cost Lanzarote the first goal in the 36th minute, with Traore losing a ball inside the area, which Javi Amadoz took advantage of to make it 1-0.
The first part of the match ended in the worst way for the interests of UD Lanzarote, when the referee signaled a penalty for a foul by Raúl on Acorán inside the area. Acorán himself was in charge of executing the penalty and making it 2-0, which was the score at halftime.
UD Lanzarote reacted in the second half and was able to tie the game. In the 56th minute, a good cross from Loukou from the sideline was headed in by Nami. A stretch of the match in which Unión Sur Yaiza was left with one less player due to the expulsion of defender Carlos Rosa with a double yellow card.
UD Lanzarote's persistence paid off in the 70th minute, with Moha heading in a cross from Alex Cruz to tie the game. With the match tied and an extra player on the field, UD Lanzarote lacked the composure to play the final minutes of the match.
In extra time, Unión Sur Yaiza took the lead again, with a cross from Dani Febles that Marcos Ferrer extended inside the area for Garrido to beat Ruymán. And just three minutes later came the equalizing goal for UD Lanzarote, with Junior breaking through on the left and ending with the ball in the back of the net.
The draw allows UD Lanzarote to maintain the lead in the Third Federation and now with a one-point advantage over their pursuers. The next opponent for the Rojillos will be Panadería Pulido San Mateo, on Sunday at 12:00 noon at the Lanzarote Sports City.
