Some of the highest-level athletes gathered this past weekend in Lanzarote to participate in the II Spanish Outdoor Apnea Championship. Two national records were broken in the competition.
Alfredo Roën from Tenerife managed to win two gold medals in the Constant Weight with Fins (CWT) and Constant Weight without Fins (CNF) categories. These marks, -93 meters in CWT and -57 meters in CNF, add to the more than 20 national records and one world record he has in his resume.
Ramón Carreño, a new promise in apnea, also stood out in the waters of Puerto del Carmen, achieving two regional records of Galicia with -70 meters CWT and another -70 meters in Free Immersion (FIM). The athletes Gemma Vila and Isabel Sánchez also had an outstanding participation.
In total, 7 regional records and 2 national records were broken in the competition. The winners of this event are now aiming to achieve the desired medal of Spain, which could lead them to qualify for the European championship.
The event was organized by the Canary Islands Federation of Underwater Activities (FEDECAS), the Spanish Federation of Underwater Activities (FEDAS) and the Apnea Lanzarote Club and was sponsored by Líneas Romero.
