The XXIV edition of the Isla de los Volcanes-Ciudad de Arrecife Gravel Rally Trophy, which is scheduled to take place on December 2nd and 3rd, already has the official list of entries for the event. The event brings together 30 teams, including the French driver Eric Camilli and the Norwegian driver Henning Solberg, internationally renowned drivers, as well as the Spanish Gravel Rally champions, Juan Carlos Quintana and Yeray Mujica from Gran Canaria. Along with them, five quad drivers and three motorcycle drivers make a total of 38 participants in the event.
This Monday, the organization hopes to receive the approval of the Cabildo de Lanzarote with the extension of the necessary permits, which concludes the long process of adapting the event to the maximum environmental respect, in addition to complying with all the requirements implemented throughout the last weeks.
The tenors of the gravel rally championships, both from the Canary Islands and from the Provincial Championship of Las Palmas, will also be at this last event of the 2022 Season. Among them, Daniel Guerra, Gustavo Sosa, Iriome Perdomo or Aníbal Hernández, among others.
Number 1 has been reserved on this occasion to remember the driver Francisco Romero, who recently passed away and who was a very significant person in this modality for more than 30 years, and also a regular at the Lanzarote event, with several victories in his extensive record.
Manuel Osorio-Alberto Dos Reis with a Peugeot 208 R5 will be one of the few teams visiting us from mainland Spain.
By vehicles, there will be five R5 or Rally2 type and eight Proto 4RM type, while the remaining 17 mounts are already two-wheel drive cars, divided between Proto, N3 and H90 type.
The next event of the race will be the official presentation, on Wednesday at 12 noon at the Castillo de San José in Arrecife, the city hosting the event. The program of activities of the rally will continue during Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the verifications, Shakedown and Qualification section, Opening Ceremony and the expected timed sections.
