The organizational effort of the Yaiza City Council and the commitment of the Latin sail family of Playa Blanca have ensured that the Southern Cup reaches, in just five years, the great goal of consolidating itself as a spearhead for the promotion of native sport in a town with a maritime tradition and roots in Latin sailing, such as Playa Blanca, which can boast that its fifth edition of the Southern Latin Sail Cup breaks the registration record with eighteen boats from Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, including five boats from Playa Blanca.

The 2025 Cup calendar sets five days between June 15 and July 12, for a total of nine regattas, since on the opening day of Sunday, June 15, there will only be one regatta, and two for each of the remaining competition days: June 22 and 29, and July 6 and 12, the latter day framed in the program of celebrations of the Virgen del Carmen.

The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, the president of the Canary Federation of Latin Sail Boats of the Canary Islands, Luis Toledo, and the president of the Island Federation of Latin Sail Boats, Juan Manuel Pérez, held a meeting this Wednesday in Yaiza to finalize organizational details of the Cup.

Óscar Noda points out that "the Cup is already a benchmark for Latin sailing in the Canary Islands, and what motivates us most to continue our commitment to its continuity is to feel the enthusiasm of sailors, boat owners and fans who intensely experience this event with sport and tradition. There is an incredible connection between the Cup and the community that enjoys it."

Councilor Ángel Lago predicts "a Southern Cup not only very participatory, but of a high technical level due to the trajectory of the skippers and crews of the boats and their competitiveness, so the people of Playa Blanca are guaranteed a great spectacle in the midst of sea conditions and different regatta fields that no point in the Canary Islands possesses."

Representing Playa Blanca will be the boats Tritón, which defends its 2024 title, Playa Blanca, Bernasan, Playa Dorada and Deportes Yaiza. The Southern Sail Cup is organized by the Yaiza City Council with federative support and the collaboration of Marina Rubicón, whose facilities are the base port of the competition.
