The event was attended by various public authorities such as the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort; the president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez; the general director of Indigenous Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Lorena Hernández; the insular vice-president, María Jesús Tovar; or the minister of Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Monzón, among other authorities.The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, assured that Friday night "demonstrated the importance of our identity". "This historic full house highlights our native sport, our traditions, and the importance of always valuing them," pointed out Betancort, who congratulated both the champions and the runners-up "for offering a unique spectacle as a final flourish to the league".For his part, the Minister of Physical Activity and Sports of the Cabildo, Juan Monzón, highlighted "the very high level offered by all teams throughout the league". "We saw it during the course of the competition, after the semifinals and in the final itself. Our fighters have shown that Canarian wrestling is not only experienced in a special way in Lanzarote, but that we have great potential and that we can say that we have recovered the passion for our tradition," asserted the minister.The Island Sports Service will continue betting on and supporting the Canarian wrestling clubs of the island, promoting the practice of our vernacular sport from the grassroots categories to the senior ones.
