The sailor Mariano Stinga, from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, has achieved the runner-up position in the prestigious 51st City of A Coruña Snipe Trophy, held recently in Galician waters. Stinga, who teamed up with José Baamonde from the Monte Real Club de Yates, stood out among the 20 boats that participated in the event.

The trophy, organized by the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, consisted of four regattas in which Stinga and Baamonde demonstrated their skill. Despite a complicated start with a sixth and an eighth position in the first two regattas, the Canarian-Galician duo came back with a second and a first place in the following tests, which allowed them to finish in the second position of the general classification.

With a total of 9 points, Stinga and Baamonde were only two points behind the champions, Martín Bermúdez de la Puente from the Real Club Náutico de Madrid and the Asturian Angela Pumariega from the Real Club Astur de Regatas. The third place went to Jorge and Marta Tábara, from the organizing club, who had won the previous year's edition.

Mariano Stinga was the only Canarian representative in this edition of the trophy, which adds special merit to his outstanding performance. The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife congratulates Mariano Stinga for this achievement. This second position is a "testimony to the talent of our sailors, and a source of pride for the entire nautical community of the island", they comment from the club.
