El Reducto beach became this weekend the epicenter of the XXXI Arrecife City Beach Handball Tournament, an event framed within the San Ginés 2026 Festivals and organized by CB San José Obrero. From early Saturday morning until Sunday midday, the three courts set up on the beach hosted countless matches in each of the categories. "Y porque no?" were crowned absolute champions in the women's category and "Quienes somos Pericos" in the men's.
Early Saturday morning saw the start of the Arrecife City Beach Handball Tournament, with a total of 42 teams participating in this edition across the U-10, U-12, U-15, U-18, and senior categories. Throughout Saturday, preliminary phase matches were held, and the spectacle on the sand of El Reducto beach continued until nearly 9 PM.
Sunday was reserved for the semifinals of the senior men's and women's categories, and the finals of each category. The intensity and spectacle on El Reducto beach were increasing. The installed stands filled up to enjoy the game offered by the players on the beach sand.
The senior women's category was won by "Y porque no?", after winning an evenly matched final against "Somos las que somos". The senior men's final was also quite hard-fought, with victory for "Quienes somos pericos" against "Carretera y manta y ron pa´ la garganta".
The XXXI Arrecife City Beach Handball Tournament concluded with the trophy presentation ceremony, an event attended by the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Sports, Eli Merino, among other representatives of the capital. Also present were the Minister of Physical Activity and Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Juan Monzón, and the president of the Canary Islands Handball Federation, Blas Parrilla.
At the trophy presentation, the top two finishers in each category were awarded. The prize for the most spectacular players went to Pedro Noda and Ainara Martín, the best players of the tournament were Mencey Pérez and Najara Gabaldón. And the award for the best goalkeepers went to Asael Mesa and Daniela de Marco.
