The 28th Isla de Los Volcanes Earth Rally – Trofeo Ciudad de Arrecife receives the starting flag. On the central avenue next to Reducto Beach, the municipality of Arrecife hosted one of the most anticipated events of the program. A starting ceremony to which the Canary Islands fans responded en masse. Hundreds of spectators showed their support for the teams participating in the sixth round of the Supercampeonato de España de Rallyes (S-CER). The Lanzarote athletes were the most acclaimed of the afternoon.
The "conejera" capital enjoyed a Thursday full of activity. It all began at midday with the verifications, which held no surprises. Then, the tenors of the highest state championship shared a few minutes of autograph signing with the fans present. The culmination of the day was the parade of more than forty authorized vehicles up the ramp and a spectacular LED starting arch, a moment that was broadcast live and could be enjoyed from anywhere in the world.
The strong institutional support that the event organized by Club Deportivo Evesport receives was reaffirmed with the presence of Juan Monzón, Sports Counselor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote; José Vicente Medina, Vice President of the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation (RFEDA); Miguel Ángel Domínguez, President of the Canary Islands Automobile Federation (FCA); Marcos González, Vice President of the Las Palmas Automobile Federation (FALP); council members Mario González and Roberto Herbón, representing the Arrecife City Council, along with other council members from other Lanzarote municipalities; Javier Martín, representing CICAR and Orvecame; and Jorge Raheb, on behalf of Balearia-Canarias, sponsors of the event.
The first stages, on Friday
This Friday, the engines will roar again on the unique "conejera" roads. The Shakedown for cars in Category 1 will start at 09:00 hours and will run along the traditional 'Puerto del Carmen' stage, with a length of 3.78 kilometers. The Qualifying Timed Stage (TCC), decisive for establishing the starting order of the inaugural stage, will begin at 10:00 hours, while the rest of the competitors will have their Shakedown from 11:00 hours.
The real fight for victory will begin in the afternoon with the dispute of the stages ‘Cabildo de Lanzarote – Haría’ (10.90 km) and ‘CICAR – Yaiza – Tías’ (16.55 km), both run twice. Both the municipalities on the southern slope and those located on the northern face of Lanzarote will witness the passage of the best drivers in the country and the benchmarks of the Desafío Peugeot, the Canary Islands Dirt Rally Championship (CCRT) and the Provincial Dirt Rally Championship of Las Palmas.
