The motor world is preparing to close the 2022 season and, one more year, it will close with the Orvecame-Isla de Lanzarote Rally, which will take place on December 16 and 17. This event will be crucial for the outcome of several championships, including the DISA-Orvecame Rally Cup, Promotion Trophy and FALP Steering Wheel.
The event with a total of eight timed special stages, in which five of them will be different, adding up to a total of 83 kilometers. The novelty presented this year by the historic Lanzarote rally is the use of the Parque Islas Canarias in Arrecife for technical checks, in addition to being the setting for the opening ceremony and the awards ceremony.
The Arrecife Fairgrounds will be the place where the assistance area, closed parks and departures and arrivals will be located. For its part, the official headquarters of the event will be the hall of the Arrecife Gran Hotel.
The Rally will begin on Friday the 16th with the night section "Tabayesco-Haría-Los Valles-El Mojón". The second day will continue with "San Bartolomé-La Candelaria" and "Tegoyo-Tías" during the morning so that, on Saturday afternoon, the route of "Casa Heidi-El Cercado" and "Tabayesco-Haría-Las Nieves-Los Valles" will take place, the latter being the TC Plus that awards extra points for the championships.
The couple Yeray Lemes – Rogelio Peñate finished the last edition of the event in first position aboard the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, thus, Lemes tied the veteran Jesús Machín as the most successful driver of the Orvecame-Isla de Lanzarote Rally with 10 victories. The duo of drivers Javier Cañada and Alejandro Rodríguez obtained second place and Juan Carlos de la Cruz and Aitor Cambeiro enjoyed the third final position.
